Foto Octo

Foto Octo is for the benefit of the people of the North West UK, initially focusing on Merseyside, Greater Manchester and surrounding areas, for people of all ages.

Foto Octo work with local partners to create, collect, curate and share contemporary photographic projects, short films and oral histories about life in the North West of the UK.

Our mission is to document aspects of everyday life in Liverpool and the North West, giving a voice to people whose story may otherwise be lost to time. We aim to work with local partners, communities, groups and individuals, seeking out the untold stories and oral histories to sit alongside events, photographic representations of local communities and video stories for exhibitions, books and film presentations.

Our catalogue of high quality social documentary photography and oral history films will inform, inspire and entertain - examining the way we live today and finding out how the stories of our past have informed the journey to the present day. It will provide an archive for future generations to look back on and see how we lived and what we strived for.  Our exhibitions will inform and entertain.  Our work as curators will help to develop and select stories and histories that can give voice to the past and help to inform the future.

We will empower local people to tell their stories, learn new skills and help them to protect their heritage.
